Superfund was a reaction to concerns with hazardous waste sites that are causing environmental problems. One of the major causes for the Superfund was the Love Canal issue. The Superfund supplies funds and help to cleanup these hazardous waste sites.

It has impacted our planet by cleaning up a lot of hazardous waste sites.

EPA helped the regulation of the Superfund Act.

The groundwater is contaminated with VOCs, the chemical components of solvents and degreasers, from materials dumped at the site. Some areas of the site are also contaminated with copper and zinc. Accidental consumption of contaminated groundwater poses a risk to nearby residents. However, residential wells in the area show no signs of contamination and the majority of residents are on public water.
